除了骗国家钱什么都不会。动不动靠民族企业装扮自己，站在道德制高点上。

This fake steve jobs is irritating sometime, but he could be insightful too. When can we go over these stupid browsers? I mean, you can do whatever you want to a dead horse and it's still a dead horse. Some people truly believe (and claim to believe) that you can make great product with javascript but it's just ridiculous. C/C++/Java/C#, they all exist for a reason. All those years, people write millions lines of code, have greate IDE to help them, deploy package sized in mega-bytes. And suddenly you can do that with a couple lines of javascript and hope everything can be downloaded in five seconds? Why? Because the rest of the world are just fools?

GMail/Gmap/Zoho is about as far as you can go with AJAX. A simple email client with search, or browse images with notes on it, that's all. You might be able to edit a simple formatted text, what about adding 3d shapes based on embedded data and morph/resize as user want by macro?

AIR/Silverlight might have a chance, let's see.

After reading my words again, I found myself to be ranting. I am just too old a dog to learn any new tricks. I post it just to share the article. So ignore me.

大家都知道IBM，大家都知道他发明了PC，每本教科书都会谈到PC XT和AT，以及IBM试图控制PC产业的下一步，microchannel（MCA）。但是，由于MCA缺乏厂商支持，而且又属于IBM专有，故而最后败给了EISA/PCI。

大家也都知道APPLE，不，不是现在的APPLE，是90年代前半期那个奄奄一息苹果，大家都知道的那个因为死抱住自己的系统，逆开放式软硬件平台而行，所以在个人电脑领域市场占有率下降，被wintel打的节节败退的苹果。

大家也都知道MD和MP3竞争的结果，或者

问题！

为什么大家认为iphone很有前途，苹果的前向P/E值超过30？

回答！

1. 互联网改变了一切，封闭的系统不再是限制。只要有足够大的产品量，成本就可以摊薄。尤其是共享或者工具软件，有互联网做后盾，边际成本趋向于0，这一点和传统的硬件市场不同。

2. 市场不同了，我的例子是传统IT市场，而iphone属于消费电子类市场，受众是普通消费者，而他们不在乎系统是否开放，应用是否足够，现在的投资在将来有没有保障。消费电子市场只需要一个现在，当下，即刻能够满足消费欲望（that shiny/flashy/cool phone makes me different from other people），使用简单（click itune store, download, and you are set），并且提供有用的功能（不管是真实的还是假想中的，wow, i can browse internet when i'm ... now, regardless the fact that i spend only 5 minutes a week on doing ...）。

3. 我的问题是伪问题，苹果/IBM在PC产业上的落后并非由于他们坚持专有封闭系统。或者至少专有系统不一定会导致产品失败。

4. 我的问题是伪问题，iphone有自己的sdk，他是一个开放系统（在某种程度上）。

5. 我的问题是伪问题，iphone不会成功（in the sense of market dominance or profit）。

三位大侠给了回复.大家普遍认为是否开放并非一个产品成功的必要条件,我是不是可以认为大家默认了苹果的系统不是开放系统的事实.也许这就是消费电子市场的特点吧.

P/E值是市场估价,也就是大部分人对苹果前景是否看好的指标,这个指标的意义就是大家都认为APPL能够成功.(至少比MSFT成功的多,MSFT的 F P/E只有18,而GOOG是33.)

四楼的大神,人类是脆弱的，需要温暖，需要食物，需要人和人的认同，需要优越感，这些都是人的弱点，因为他们不是你。

前天受到短信，一月手机费居然要90块！其中55块是电话费！大部分是因为在家做call conference！为了几十块和老板计较就显得我太鸡贼了，憋了半天，最后想到美国的call conference号码是866免费的！而且skypeout可以打免费国际800电话！于是下载，装之！

无奈痛苦的发现，使用skypeout的情况下，dtmf的成功率极低，我试了三次输入电话会议代码都失败，然后被挂断，再拨入，试了两次，这次对了！然后输入密码，又失败，连续三次，被踢出。折腾了10分钟，也没有打进去，太耽误功夫，而且质量也没得保证，只能放弃了。

看来，免费的午餐不好吃，要不，以后改成早起去公司call？

P.S. 我的90块里面，月租35，话费55（大约400分钟），现如今什么都涨价，活着不容易阿，不知道大家还有什么高招，能多快好省的打电话呢？

Okay, so I understand people *love* google so much that they can tolerate certain lack of functionality and call it simple, brief, straight forward or sense of aesthetic.

What is facebook? I don't get it even after I've spent 10 minutes on it.

So you get a list of friends, and friends of friends. So do linkedin.

You can see an aggregated mini-feed of all your friends. That's something. Although I'm ~~hate~~ not interested in micro-blog as I mentioned in my last blog. Twitter is bad enough, now facebook...

The old school application I can understand. Search, so you can index the internet quick. GMail, so you get a big email inbox, good tagging and fast searching. GDoc, so you can access document anywhere and people can collaborate on it, for free. Youtube/Flickr, well, at least you can share your video/photo. But facebook? At a price of 10 billion? I'm starting to wonder for myself if I'm too old for this game.

Mobs move fast. Most user, a.k.a. community, have no loyalty. The faster people moves into something, the faster people will move away, provided that it can be easily copied. That's why I think community worth nothing. The counterexample would be google search of course.

I can see live space is moving to that direction when they change the default your space page. It's just one proof that facebook can be easily copied. Btw, the whole live branding is a mess, I'll spare another blog on it.

曾经人类流行的是史记，战争与和平，追忆似水年华之类的大块头，再不济也要是红楼梦的。

后来人开始懒了，所以想卡夫卡，萨特，杜拉斯这样的就流行起来。

再后来，人就以看报纸和电影为主，两小时解决问题。

再再后来，大家就开电视拉，半小时也能完成一些东西。

再再再后来，BLOG的革命开始了，we the media，阅读时间单位降低到五分钟。

再再再在后来，有了twitter和他的中国拷贝叫做饭否，于是大家的注意力集中时间压缩到了三十秒-70个汉字。。。

想到了随便说说，大家花个两分钟也就算给我面子了。

最近用google reader/mail比较多，也时不时的用键盘来操纵，最后感觉，其实，键盘和鼠标的控制效率上差不多。但是，键盘会给人更多的控制感。

至于这是不是纯粹心理作用，或者纯粹心理作用是不是也能提高人的效率，我还不知道。

Google非常自以为是的使用了/作为搜索的shortcut，以至于我不再能搜索当前页面（因为firefox的快速搜索也是/，我不习惯使用ctrl-f)。

顺便抱怨下，似乎大部分程序都用vi键盘设置，作为emacs用户要严正抗议一下，强烈要求使用ctrl-n,p,v,s作为shortcut。

简单的说,这是一个firefox插件，可以录制你所有在网页上的动作（当然要用firefox的），供以后重用。

比如我上很多网站，第一步是要登录（由于某些奇怪的原因，网站永远记不住我，可能是firefox对cookie的处理有点问题），第二步才是浏览。那有了这个插件，我就只要按一下就可以。

宏记录软件很多，这个插件的特点呢

1. 可以共享，ibm提供一个服务器共享大家的coscript，共享支持tag和rate之类的分类方法

2. 支持宏替换，比如我的名字，地址之类敏感信息不会作为coscript的一部分，在script里面出现的是一些在运行时被替换的变量

3. 下载需要登录IBM，让我倒足胃口，所以我并没有下载安装。。。

procexp发现c:\windows\svrsvc.exe但是未经签名，搜索发现属于木马，删除进程后删除exe，貌似问题解决。似乎确认是bitspirit的问题。可惜，我一直用这个软件，看来要换bitcomet了。

Step 2, I figure out I need to leverage the WIFI ability of my PDA so I bought a linksys broadband wireless router to setup a wireless network at home.

Step 3, I found that I can use my PDA (a WM5 device) at company too.

Step 4, Hoever, only a small number of free hotspots exist in this city so I signup a data plan with China Mobile to get 50M Bytes a month at 20RMB.

Step 5, Now I can sync with company exchange server at any time anywhere I want. Not only email, but also global and local contact, appoinment, and todo list. Call me crazy.

Step 6, I find this article and a free or low-cost wireless WAN in Shanghai became my wet dream.

That's not what I'm talking about at all.

When user interfaces means that something CANNOT BE DONE, it's not about 
"usable design" any more. At that point, it's about UNusable design.

Any Gnome people who argue that it's about "usability" have their heads up 
their asses so far that it's not funny. I've argued with them about this 
before, and I know others have too, and mostly given up.

"Usability" is an issue only if you can do something at all. But if you 
can't do the thing at all, it's pointless to talk about usability: the 
thing is BY DEFINITION not usable if it cannot be used for a specific 
task.

Then a person that claims that it's usable for something else is a FUCKING 
IDIOT.

And in that FUCKING IDIOT vein:

This is a great example of being a F.I.

There is no such thing as a "majority of end users" in general. For 
example, maybe _I_ am in what you _claim_ to be a majority, in that I 
want a simple printer dialog - because I have a simple printer, and 
even simpler printer needs.

So a simple printer dialog doesn't bother me, and as such you can count me 
in your "majority".

But I can guarantee you one thing: the _vast_ majority of people are part 
of a specific minority when it comes to something. This is somethign that 
the F.I. "interface designers" in the Gnome sense seems to continually 
overlook.

For example, maybe I don't care about printers. But I _do_ care about my 
mouse. If I can't control the left/middle/right button actions, I get 
really upset. Again, the "majority" of people may not care, so by your 
majority argument, the mouse setup should be so simple that the majority 
of people can never get confused. But I _do_ care.

In other words: your "majority" argument is total and utter BULLSHIT. It 
can be true for any particular feature, but it's simply not true in 
general. 

To put it in mathematical terms: "The Intersection of all Majorities is 
the empty set", or its corollary: "The Union of even the smallest 
minorities is the universal set".

It's a total logical fallacy to think that the intersection of two 
majorities would still be a majority. It is pretty damn rare, in fact, 
because these things are absolutely not correlated.

And the technical term for somebody who claims to do user interface design 
and not understand this fact is a "FUCKING IDIOT".

And this has _nothing_ to do with "technical users". Even totally 
non-technical users care about something. In fact, it might be their 
printer, and having a way to set the paper type and resolution by hand. 

Another way of saying this: we're _all_ "special" some way. We're damn 
quirky, even the nontechnical among us.

But hey, just continue to remove all that confusing functionality from 
Gnome.  I don't care. I voted with my feet.

再后来，IE7 DOGFOOD出现，于是俺试图安装之，它告诉俺，俺要先删除IE7BETA1，于是俺照做了，不幸的事情发生了，俺的IE7BETA1仍然顽强的存在在俺的系统里，只是不再稳定，时不时的死机。同时新的IE7继续坚持要俺先卸载IE7BETA1，完全不管人家注册表里有没有IE7。

现在，俺只能用着时不时挂掉的IE7BETA1和FFX，于是，俺不再幸福。

我的N-GAGE用了快一年了，想着该换了

一开始看上SIEMENS S65，想着不用SMARTPHONE了，还是回归DUMB PHONE用用吧

最近同事搞了个DOPOD 565，发现WINDOWS MOBILE也还不错，于是自己看上了DOPOD 575

去YOUNET晃了圈，MPX220也还可以，不过缺点也不少

又去WDA看了看，看起来还是S60的人气最高，然而最近NOKIA的手机都不争气的让我看不上。。。其实我最期待的是N90啊。。。。。。

又听说TREO 670会是WINDOWS MOBILE，是不是该等等

据说人在作选择的时候，虽然只选择了一样却等于拥有了所有的可选项，我怎么没有这样的感觉呢？
